TO BENEFIT THE HEART INSTITUTE AT VIRGINIA MASON MEDICAL CENTER

Seattle's most exciting golf experience of the summer comes to the Seattle area in August at the Boeing Classic and you can be involved.

Imagine yourself on a gorgeous day, walking the lush fairways of the Jack Nicklaus-designed TPC Snoqualmie Ridge golf course. With an exquisite view of Mt. Si and the Cascades, you are just a few yards behind three golf legends ...maybe Gary Player, Tom Kite and Peter Jacobsen. As you keep their golf scores electronically for TV, you see close up their meticulous course management, precise golf shots and artful putting. An 18-hole golf lesson that's priceless! Or, you see the action from your spot at the ropes as a Course Marshal, or posting scores on the official scoreboard.

The Boeing Classic, a PGA Champions Tour event, will be held August 18 - 24 and you can be part of this excitement! Several hundred volunteers are registered already—but there's plenty of room for you, your friends and co-workers. A PGA tournament takes a lot of volunteers to keep it running smoothly. For example, being close to the action as a Course Marshal is one of the most popular jobs. With 18 holes needing Marshals along every fairway and green during three days of competition, hundreds of Course Marshals are needed. Groups of co-workers or golf club members are encouraged to provide all of the Course Marshals on a particular hole. So you can work with your friends beside the action!

If you are in a group that may want to provide Course Marshals for a hole, just send an e-mail to Course Marshals Co-chairs Kevin Kleinsmith(kevin.kleinsmith@gmail.com) or David Goldberg (davidny38@comcast.net).

Volunteers are needed in many others areas, too, such as the Driving Range, Transporation, ShotLink Laser, Walking Scorers...21 committees in all. For details and to register as a volunteer, visit www.boeingclassic.com. There you will find complete descriptions of the various volunteer opportunities available.

Volunteering for the Boeing Classic WILL make a difference. What's more, the real winner is not the low-scoring pro. The real winner is Greater Seattle charities including The Heart Institute at Virginia Mason Medical Center, First Tee of Greater Seattle, and the Nutrition and Fitness for Life Program which have received over $2.4M from just the first three years of the event.

So come on out and help. Experience the excitement.
And make a difference.
